About the Author: Tim Peters

Tim Peters is founder and president of Tim Peters and Company, Inc., a global health education company based in Peapack, New Jersey.

Although Peters started his business in 1981, the seeds for Tim Peters and Company, Inc. were actually sown on a hot summer day in his childhood—a day Peters will never forget. What began as an afternoon of fun at the swimming pool with family and friends would end in near tragedy, as Peters would help save his close friend from drowning.

Unfortunately, the swimming accident caused his friend to develop a serious disorder called Epilepsy. Peters remembers feeling helpless and unable to find information that would help explain this complex disorder in a clear, concise manner. Unknown to Peters at the time, this experience would shape his personal and professional future.

Peters went on to study business in college, but his interest in health and medicine—triggered by the traumatic childhood event—never waned. Fueled by this interest and research in the fields of medicine, healthcare, and education, Peters started his company out of his parents' garage. From those modest beginnings, Peters has grown his health education company into a business that serves the healthcare industry on a global level.

For over two decades, Tim Peters and Company, Inc. earned an international reputation as the innovative company that "humanizes medicine." But Peters never forgot his friend's illness and the impact it had on his life. He vowed to help other youngsters who might be struggling to understand and cope with serious diseases and disabilities, as well as their families and peers.

In 1990, Peters realized his dream of helping children. Combining his medical knowledge and creativity, Peters began creating and publishing the Dr. Wellbook® Collection which today offers ten titles for young children and has over half a million books in circulation.

Tim Peters is also the creator of the superhero Captain Bio® and Bio Comics®, the acclaimed series of comic books promoting healthy living and responsibility to school-aged children; and the Humanatomy® Board Book Series, uniquely designed and formatted books addressing more than 40 of today's most important medical diseases and conditions.
